BF ALL the time?! _The Rainmaker_ 2 kids; Houston, Texas 1062 posts

I'm EBF my almost 3 week old, and starting last night she's been eating every 1 -1 1/2 hrs! I know I'm producing milk, I get that full feeling and empty feeling after she's done eating. But I'm wondering why she's eating so often? She latches on for about 20-30 min then stops. I try to encourage her to feed longer, or even switch breast. But she wants nothing to do with it, till she gets hungry again. I don't mind it during the day, but last night was brutal. Any thing I should be doing different?

Babies go through a growth spurt around that time. Practice nursing laying down. It took me a minute to get the hang of it, but it has seriously saved my life. Lol.

Nope. Just nurse on demand. I forget when they have growth spurts, but it very well just could be her growing.

Completely normal.

Even IF your supply might be low (hypothetically speaking) nursing on demand would be the best thing to help your supply.

BUT it's totally normal.

My 11 month old will do that right before a growth spurt.

That makes sence. I tried bf laying down and it didn't work. My nipples are just now getting better since she wasn't latching on right originally, and when I layed down it felt like she sucked harder and it was so painful. I got up right away lol.

It's the early days. They aren't eating that much and they digest very fast. And could be going through a growth spurt. It's normal. Just gotta get through it. I never nursed laying down with my first and now I've aced it with this one. Also a recliner or reclining couch is great.

Normal. Your LO is going through one of many growth spurts to come. Keep up the good work, mama, you're doing a great job! :D

Aww thanks!
I love hearing encouraging words like this. The only one that supports me EBF around me, is my husband. Everyone else tells me she prob isn't getting enough milk from me and that I should just give her formula :/

They just don't know what they are talking about, mama. Babies need to nurse so often to build up your supply. My mom told me the same thing, but she just didn't know. She didn't BF any of us. As long as her diapers are normal, she's getting enough.

You deserve it! And I don't know where they get that^ but it seems like every FF-er says it and it really ticks me off! Don't get me started, I could go on for hours about people sabotaging mothers who aren't yet confident in their lactation/mothering.

That's the thing! My mom bf me, it's like she forgot how to do everything. She's so weird. But anyway, I'm totally commited to EBF'ing so I won't give up :)
My MIL went as far as BUYING my daughter formula! It's not that I can't afford formula, It was just my choice to EBF. What a b...

Sounds perfectly normal to me. DD went through a growth spurt around that time and wanted to be at the b**b constantly. When your trying the side latch try putting a really flat pillow under her to help raise her up a bit. That is what I had to do but I couldn't even think about laying down on my side with DD until she was about 6 weeks old because I had major complications from my c-section that prevented me from laying on my side. Once you get the hang of latching while laying on your side though it is a lifesaver. You can sleep while you nurse :) though I can only manage to do that if I am super tired.
