Im going to call my mom. I just asked him if he can hardly breath and he said yes.

Quoting [JadeLee]:" Children do not usually have heart problems. That is why when they do CPR on a child they call for help ... [snip!] ... they call for help first if they go unresponsive. Because chances are there is something else wrong and CPR wont help that."

I know I just worry.

Like if it is sucking in around his ribs. Do you have a thermometer? Like she said follow your gut, and if nothing is wrong with him at least you are reassured.

Good luck. Let us know when you have time. Sometimes if you call to let them know you are coming it can speed the process.

I think that it is only natural.

:!::!::!: If he's gasping for breath, and you can see the skin sink in between his ribs when he breathes in, or his stomach is retracting, he's working too hard to breathe and needs to get checked!

Yeah hes sucking it around his ribs like that. I dont have a thermometer that works. My mom just told me to see if it calms down and then call her back. I think Im going to call a cab because he is pain. He said he feels like hes dying.

I would call your mom. Even if it turns out that he is fine she will forgive you. If he as a fever, and is having a hard time breathing it is probably why his heart is beating faster, which is not in the scary zone, but the fact that he is having a hard time breathing would be enough for me to bring him in. If you are not sure what to look for in his breathing it is easier to see the indentation in his neck ( the dip between the collar bones) if that seems to be "sucking in" when he inhales then definitely go now, likely ventolin will get him back on track. If not, go with your gut, but the fact that you are posting this tells me that you are already worried.

Anytime you notice them working that hard for air, especially with a heartrate that is on the higher end of normal it is worthy of an ER visit honestly

Then he needs to go in. Do what you have to do? The retractions are worrysome for sure. And if it is something that needs antibiotics to be treated then you are just prolonging the inevitable. I don't know how your hospital typically works but don't be surprised if they keep him overnight, I know around here they would.

At this point what are you waiting for? Chances are it is not going to get better especially if he is having trouble breathing, that means he may not be getting oxygen everywhere it needs to go. How are his toes, fingers and around his mouth. Are they blueish at all?

I dont know but I will make sure I am ready if that has to happen. Im going to call my mom in a half an hour and tell her that its not slowing down. If he needs to stay then he needs to stay. I can call the ER and have them make a suggestion right?
