1st birthday...with no party? Supafly★ 2 kids; Poland 14109 posts

Okay, DS is turning 1 on the 17th and I have no clue what to do. Usually we go to my mom's house and throw the party there because all of my friends and family are down there, but I won't have time to go down this month [it's 2 1/2 hours away]. But up here, I have no friends or family, or even room for a party. No yard, no nothing.

So....what else can I do? I'd feel awful just skipping it...even if he won't know the difference. Any ideas?

Just do something small with whoever lives in your house. Dinner, cake, and presents. He's not gonna care that its only y'all. :)

my sons birthday is the 14th and since all of our family are states away (military) we're just having something very small at home. we're doing cake, presents, possibly a BBQ.

I guess I could do that. I'd just feel bad because everyone is asking me what I'm going to do for his birthday and that just sounds so.....plain lol. But then again everyone else has their whole family around and DH and I have no one, really.

Agreed. We do that, invite a few close relatives and make some food. Small and simple but we're celebrating :) I'm doing that in about a month for my daughters second birthday.

Don't feel bad, I'm sure you'd go all out if circumstances were different. Your LO is gonna have just as much fun with a small party as he would with a big one. And you know we go all out for our (the adults) benefit, not the child's. Lol!!

Go out somewhere for the day and then go to dinner :)

We do big parties on the weekend, but for the actual birthday itself we just go to the Zoo or Aquarium or Museum(her choice) and then go to dinner(her choice-always sizzlers lol)

I had a huge party planned for dd's bacj in Feb, and decided to just skip it altogether. loL I have no regrets what-so-ever. It was me and all 3 kids and my parents, a small cake and I am the only one who did presents, not wrapped or anything and it was just clothes. Usually I am over th etop crazy on gifts and parties, but really it wsfine just the way it happened.

Why not just have a cake and a couple of gifts among yourselves?

You're going to want those first birthday pics!

I think that's what I'm going to do. I definitely want those pics with cake all over his chubby face. :)

Manda, I was going to push it until after July 4th because that's when we'll be by my mom's so maybe I'll throw a party then if everyone's not too busy.

We were away from fam for lyls first and we went to chuck e cheeses haha. She had fun. The zoo would be a fun place. You can always do a fam celebration when you go visit. But for his actual bday do a mini vaycay local.
