Searching for a midwife/birth center in your city? BRowell Due March 26; 34 kids; Virginia 3189 postsstatus 5th Jun
DH and I are currently TTC and when I do get pregnant I really want to have as natural birth as possible. My last two I was induced with pitocin and got an epidural, I don't even know what true labor feels like. I would really like to have a water birth. I think it would really help with pain management for me and I'd like to have a midwife but I can't find either of those near where I live. The closest is 30 minutes away. Is that to far? I've just been googling, is there a better way to find a birthing center in my area? I'm really bummed there's not one closer. I love the hospital I gave birth at with DS and its only 5 minutes away. I know I can have a natural birth at a hospital but I really want a water birth. They don't do water births at hospitals do they?

I think some hospitals do do water births, not completely sure. I am attempting a VBAC and am having a hospital birth, my dr and hospital are very pro VBAC but I also have a doula who is gonna be there as well. My hospital, dr, and doula are all about 25-30 minutes away so I wouldn't think that is too far.

I wouldn't think so. The hospital that I would have a baby in the next time is 45 minutes from me.

I gave birth at a center that is 20 mins away, 30 mins is not too far. My MW with my first lived 3 hours away from me. lmao. Anyway, we paid her with our income tax return. It worked out well for everyone. I absolutely LOVED my out of hospital birth, and the water does work wonders for helping during contractions. I found my MW through word of mouth around town. I personally think its better that way then looking online. Good luck!!!

I wanted a water birth but the closest place that allowed them was an hour and nhalf away. I was shocked that it was so unattainable... And I live in California! 30 minutes is doable, I think and good for you for getting what you want.
