Part of me feels like a bad mom though. He has a high metabolism like his dad. 4 years old and just hit 36 lbs, and it was a struggle getting there. My husband has caved in so many times giving him late night snacks because according to him "He's just like me and food doesnt stay with me long.."

I know the truth, its just he is making excuses to stay up. I told him today his bed time is at 9, in his bedroom. Theres no toys, a stuffed animal only.

He doesnt think im serious :?

stop the snacks, DD is also 4 and she is stuck at 30 lbs. He only wants the snack because he knows that gets him more time. Good luck and don't feel bad for doing the right thing

So make sure he's well fed before you put him to bed then he can't complain about being hungry or thirsty.

Quoting Living-Dead Girl:" Dude, we fight dinner SO HARD. I make a good decent meal, and he picks at it. THEN complains later that he is STAARVVVINGGG and wants cereal and stuff, but wont eat what we had for dinner."

If my kids dont eat dinner then they get nothing else until breakfast. (If they are truly hungry I will offer a fruit or veggie thats it)

Yeah, sometimes that happens to me. My kids have the option of eating what I make or having a sandwich with an apple or orange. I won't offer or allow them to have anything else unless they finish the dinner or sandwich.

We do a simple snack right bede bed that she eats while I read her story, then she brushes her teeth, goes potty, and gets a cup of water next to her bed. So the big three...hungry, thirsty, potty won't be applicable. Then when she says those things I know it isn't true and it doesn't tug at my heartstrings.
