Can an episotomy cause nerve damage? Fertile Mertile + D & C 2 kids; Sumter, SC, United States 37083 posts

I had to have an emergency episiotomy with DS #2, and ever since I have had him, I have hardly no sex drive. And when we do things, I can hardly ever feel much down there. It's really discouraging, and I just wanted to know if it's possible to lose nerve endings from an episiotomy?

I had an episotomy with DD had no issues. They didn't give me one with DS and I tore top to bottom bad. I have some nerve damage from that.

I don't know if it's nerve damage or not but I also had the same problem but with tearing. It took me about 10ish months to start getting feeling back. I found that if we had sex with me on top and I hooked my feet over the tops of his thighs behind me then I could get better contact and it felt way better.

Well I had just a 2nd degree tear with my first son, and with my second the episotomy. He is 13 months old now, it's just so frustrating, i never want to have sex, and when we do, it's just not very enjoyable on my part. I already had a hard time with the "o" as it was.

I know how you feel I had my first baby 5 months ago and i had an episotomy and I rarely enjoy sex unless I am on top. When I spoke to my midwife she said most women who have stitches say it never feels the same down there so i didnt feel great after hearing that!

I had stitches with my first son as well, but I still had plenty of feeling down there.

Did they tell you how many stitches you had? My consultant said I may feel numb for a couple of months because of the tear and stitches they were quite bad but hopefully the feeling comes back.

Not sure, but I was cut three different ways for the episotomy.
