A few 7 month old development questions. One proud mommy! 1 child; Mechanicsville, Maryland 268 posts

I have a few and don't feel like making post after post of questions so here we go

1. How much did they eat? He used to eat all the time every 2.5-3 hours now he only eats about 4 8oz bottles a day and if he is hungry he'd prefer baby food and freak out if I try to give him a bottle.

2. He isn't crawling yet he scoots around and walks in his walker but as soon as I put him on his stomach he just rolls over lmao. So when did your baby start becoming mobile?

3. How many words did you child say at 7 months? He says mama, baba, and dada and babbles all day.

4. He was putting on weight like crazy but it has slowed down a lot in the last month or so. But he is in his bouncer seat and walker more now, I'm pretty sure that is why but I'm just making sure.

Thank you very much :)

1. Dd eats the same. Four 8 oz bottles a day & at least one meal with solids
2. She rolls to where she wants to get or army crawls
3. No words, not on purpose anyway lol - just babbling
4. She's a really big baby, always has been so she hasn't had a growth spurt it a while. She slowed after four months.

Btw she turns seven months on the 13th

My daughter is 9 months now but around 7 months she was nursing four times a day and three-five times at night. She has never had baby food but she had breakfast, lunch and dinner (just regular food that she fed herself) She started crawling right at 7 months. She says dada but I doubt she knows what it means, lots of babbling. Every baby is different and everything you said sounds fine. I would try more floor time and less walker time so he can build up his muscles to crawl. Either way, everything sounds good! Although I don't know anything about how many bottles/ounces so I'm no help there!

ETA: gaining weight did slow down for her after six months when she became more mobile. She used to gain a pound and a half a month and now it's about a pound a month or a little less. She is 20ish lbs at 9 months

1. He had 5oz bottles every 3 hours and baby food 3 times a day along with snacks.
2. He started crawling at 7 1/2 months.
3. No words. He's 10 months now and will sometimes say da, ma, ba but not two syllable words.
4. DS slowed down at that age, he only gained 3-4 pounds between 6 and 9 months.

Yeah he eats about 2 baby food meals a day, he has always been in the 90% for height and weight. So I was just making sure, LMAO he rolls where he wants too but doesn't army crawl he'd rather just sit in one spot and scoot on his butt.

He's a jerk every time I put him on his stomach he just rolls back on his back, when I put him on his stomach again he does the same thing. It keeps going until he freaks out and starts crying, is there anyway I can keep him on his stomach? He is 22 pounds and just turned 7 months today actually :) Didn't even notice until I looked at the date!

my son is now 9 months but at 7 months he weighed around 20 lbs.
He ate around that much at that age. a few more bottles then that but he only eats 6 oz bottles. He usually eats about every 4-5 hours and has since about 6 months.
At 7 months he was just starting to crawl, at my sons 6 month check up i was concerned he wasnt crawling yet since the paper had asked if he was crawling, my pedi told me people think its a 6 month skill but its really a 9 month skill.
And at 7 months he would say mama and baba but not on purpose. more along the lines of just babbling.

1. IDK how much in oz, b.c my baby breastfeed, but he still relied mostly on milk for his nutrition. He was very interested in food but he always wanted to nurse!

2. and 3. Calm down, you're trying to rush him out of babyhood! IDR if my son was even scooting by that age, I think he said mama, dada and nana, but your son sounds completely normal on both of those points.

4. My son was all over the place w/ his weight gain- like you said, it depends on what new things he's doing, his last growth spurt in length, etc.

Yeah I'm not sure if he knows what they mean but he will say them when he wants to be picked up or if I'm having a conversation with my SO or another adult. He says mama when he wants to be picked up though because I'm usually the one to pick him up then say 'mama' so I guess he might have learned to associate it with being picked up :P

will he just chill on his back or sitting? My daughter hated being on her stomach...she freaked out every time. When she started sitting up on her own she would just fall into the crawl position and she went from there!

I'm not trying to rush him but every time I told people he wasn't crawling yet they gave me this look and said that since he is sitting up he should be crawling. Even his church daycare was surprised when I said he wasn't crawling so it made me feel a little edgy :) I'm happy he sounds normal though!

He loves to sit up and does that all the time and will sometimes go on his stomach but then get bored and start crying lol! I guess I will just let him sit up more and hope he figures out the crawling thing like your daughter did :)

Wow, people are crazy. My son didn't crawl until he was probably 8 or 9 months old. Every baby is different, don't worry about what he *should* be doing. I purposely did not read the stuff that came to my email from all the baby sites b/c if I had, I would've obsessed about every little thing he was or wasn't doing! I'm a natural worry-wart (the panic attack type!) but I am proud of how laid-back I've been about his development. Don't worry, you'll be chasing him soon enough!
