Would you buy a used carseat? Why or why not?

I am debating on buying a used Chicco. It comes with a stroller and the guy says they've only been used once. He only wants $75. So it's a really good deal but.. I'm a huge carseat nazi and really scared to buy a used one. WWYD?

I probably would unless I thought the people seemed shady or dirty... I wouldn't buy a used carseat over like a couple years old either.

Only if the seller is a close friend or family member that I trust. You'd be taking their word for everything... no accidents or washing the straps.

Chicco travel systems sell for around $300.. Would you just buy a cheaper set instead of buying a better brand used?

No not a car seat unless you know the person really well and trust them because carseats that have been in wrecks, even if they look okay, are recommended to be replaced. Most second hand stars wont even sell used carseats.

I would never buy a used seat unless it was from someone I knew very well and that the seat was taken proper care of. I might buy a used one from a CPST but otherwise my childs safety is not worth it.

It looks brand new. I'm just paranoid he's lying. Why would someone sell a set worth $349 for only $75? :?

NO. Even if the car seat doesn't have a scratch, you don't know if its been in a wreck.

I would never buy used, period. I think trying to sell a used car seat for $75 is a little ridiculous.

You know what they say about deals that seem to good to be true...they usually are. I mean The stroller for $75 is still a good deal but I wouldnt use the seat.

We have a Chicco travel system and we love it. But for $75 and brand new sounds kind of fishy. Unless he's just trying to get rid of it. Either way I wouldn't buy a used carseat.

Oh, for the set. Yeah, that seems a little off either way. I'm just picky though, if it was from a family member or a close friend then probably.
