I will be 40 wks in 2 days. I think labor tried to start yesterday, but stopped? I dont know if thats even possible. At 3 o'clock, i started feeling a sharp pain in my upper abdomen. Every 4 minutes the pain felt a little stronger, i got lower back cramps, and felt nauseous. I went for a walk and the pains continued until about 5 o'clock, then slowly faded away. A couple hours later, i went for a couple of walks and felt contractions around every 15 minutes but they weren't as intense as before. Now today, i havent felt anything yet. It's weird i dont know whats going on. Has anybody experienced anything like this? Can labor actually start and then stop?

If it stopped than it wasn't labor. Labor ends in having a baby.

That's exactly what happened to me. It went on for 3 days. I couldn't sleep and it was draining me. My doc sent me to labor and delivery and I literally sat on the hospital bed and my water broke lol.

Labor is a process. Some women and go directly into labor, but a bunch don't. It will start and stop randomly. This helps to prep your body for the real deal. It might dilate you a bit though in the meantime. Labor normally starts and stops for me (or gets stopped medically) for essentially the entire 2nd and 3rd trimesters. I get contractions every couple of minutes for weeks at the end. Lots of fun....

Good luck OP! Hopefully next time it starts up, it will keep going. :)

During actual there can be a "stalling" period. Usually doctors just pump you full of PIT or take you for a section. It's normal to stall in labor. But as for your situation OP probably practice labor. I bet you are getting soooo close!

True. I guess OP just hasn't gone into active labor yet.

Thanks girls. Good to know....really, I felt a little dumb for asking. I tried getting info from my Mom and she just says I'm the only one that could know if I'm in labor. So I didnt want to call a nurse/dr to tell me the same thing. Contractions are confusing lol. I just dont want to go to the hospital only to be sent home. I see my doctor tomorrow so hopefully she can do something to help get things going. :)
