Ok I need some help here. I have not started PTing DS because I don't believe he is ready. One day I decided to put a pull up on him and he screamed until I took it off lol and he won't sit on his potty chair either. I didn't force him or anything I just wanted to see what he would do. So since then we've done nothing.
DS is 20 months. I am a first time mom so this is very new to me. From the research I have done I believe we should wait until he is AT LEAST 2 to even think about trying. DH on the other hand, thinks *I* should PT him now. And so do a few family members.
Please comment and tell me when you started to PT your kid and if you actually waited until he was ready.
Noah's still not ready and he's 2 and a half (29 months). :( Wish I had some more advice for you mama. If you push him before he's ready though it's just gonna be that much harder.
DS is starting to show signs now he's 15 months! I talked over with his pedi. She said if I start now, with how smart he is I will likely have him trained by 18 months!
I helped my boyfriend potty train his older two while he was at work and i had them. His oldest was almost 4 before he got potty trained and his middle son was 3. It took us two days to potty train his middle son. His youngest is 2 and I think he is ready and we have tried a little but I think he's only ready because he's watched his older two brothers.
You probably know this, but here's my two cents. I started potty training Simon when he was 2 years old. (got him a potty chair for his birthday lol) He did okay, off and on, for a long time. I think it was hard because we moved around a lot, so he wasn't fully potty trained until he started to go to preschool at 3 years old. Cinthya potty trained herself mostly. Before she was 3 years old, she just decided she wanted to use the potty too. The best advice I can give, is try not to get angry or too stressed out about it. Approach potty training calmly and try to make it fun and exciting.
Some people say to put underwear on him and he won't like the wet feeling when he has accidents.....that did NOT work for me. My son didn't care and would have worn wet underwear all day if I hadn't changed him. What a weird-o. ;)
