So today we found out our youngest (19 months) has a heart murmur. His Dr said she doesn't know how no one noticed it before because it is very obvious and set up an appointment at the cardiologist for this Thursday. I have a heart murmur that comes and goes but the drs said not to worry about it. But I've had friends with kids who had a heart murmur and it didn't turn out well at all. I'm freaking out. The apt is 2 1/2 hours long. What all will they do? Any advice?

calm down.. many MANY people live with murmurs without a problem.

Like you said.. you have one that comes and goes.

Cardiologist will likely listen, and schedule an appointment for an echocardiogram where they do an ultrasound of the heart pumping blood to see if the heart can pump efficiently or if the "leak" is too much.
