I slept in a box when I was a baby, if I tell people this they think I'm out of my mind. Nah, Finnish people are weird little geniuses. Like I don't have any pictures on me at this time (they're at my parent's house), but one of my first pictures is of me sleeping in a cardboard box with a little mattress in it. I was pretty big though so the box didn't last super long and they had to get me a crib eventually.

How does it cut down on infant deaths?

I would assume there comes instructions inside of the box- lay your baby on its back, do not add blankets, pillows, stuffed animals, etc. A big problem we have here is that parents overload their kid's crib with shit and they suffocate.

Likely because they promote good prenatal health, the mother has to receive prental care just once to get the box for free, though logically a lot of women just go at all times necessary. It also provides a lot of necessary things for a baby so the mother can afford to feed herself well without having to worry as much. There's also a good mattress in there which is something that might help prevent SIDS. Finland used to be such a poor country where this was something to help boost the morality, because mothers struggled to get the things in the box for their babies before.

Sometimes I still wish I lived in Finland because it's really awesome to get one of those boxes. A lot of it is reusable , and it saves a ton of money. My mom reused mine for a younger sister.
