When did you stop co-sleeping? Boog's Mama. 1 child; Little Rock, AR, United States 9064 posts

DS is only 4 months, but he's been in our bed since birth basically. We love cosleeping and it's so much easier with breastfeeding but I know eventually he needs to go in his own room. Well our family has been giving us grief about it, "He needs to be independent", "He'll be sleeping with you when he's 5." etc, etc.. Anyway we tried this past week to get him in his room but it was definitely a no go. If you coslept, when did you transition to LOs own room?
This is our current sleeping situation:

DS is 9 months and he still sleeps in our room. However, he is in his own crib in the other side of our large master bedroom. Maybe start off easy and just move his crib to another side of the room so he isnt RIGHT next to you. Then transition from that in a few weeks to his own room?

I'm not ready to put DS in another room. I will by the time he is one. We are getting there but its mostly me holding onto the closeness. lol

DS what about 2 yrs old and it was extremely easy. He had slept in our bed since he was born too. Don't let anyone give you crap or infuence your decision or what is making your LO happiest. That shit pisses me off, it's none of their business!

se ted at 4 1/2 months. we transitioned slowly: naps in his crib in his room at first then more and more and by 5 1/2 to 6 months he slept in his own room. but he wasn't the fussy type. do it slow especially if your LO is fussy about it. don't listen to family.

I put DD in her own room at 5 months, would have been sooner but BD kept fighting me on it

Zoey is 21 months and still in our bed, nothing we've tried has worked so we stopped trying after 2-3 months. I personally don't mind it so much, she's going to be my only child so if she wants to sleep in the same bed as me until she's 5...well...that's fine with her momma.

Adria was 11 months when I moved her to her own room. She did not enjoy her crib very much at all so after a couple months I put the mattress on the floor and then she was fine.

Bub is 9 months and I have no plans to stop soon. Although for his first long stretch of sleep at night I'll stick him in his crib and get a good hour or so, depending on the night, in bed alone lol.

Around 4 months when she started sleeping through the night. She's 4.5 now and still sleeps with me when she feels like it.
