I'm 22 weeks pregnant and I'm really wanting to do natural this thim I won't beat myself up if I change my mind in the middle but I'd love to do it naturally. No one thinks I can do it because I don't have a high pain tolerance but I really think I can.

My contractions never hurt with Ava I only got the epidural because I was scared of pushing. But I'm not worried about that this time. My water also broke on its own I wasn't induced and it was 10 hours

But I know this labor could be the complete opposite. But I still want advice on trying I only know a few people that have given birth naturally to talk to. Sorry if my spelling is bad my fingers are not working right on my phone tonight.

I'd recommend reading "Ina May's Guide to Childbirth" by Ina May Gaskin, that was the book that really gave me the ability to wrap my head around natural childbirth. There is also a thread on here somewhere (I'll post it in a minute) for natural childbirth support and stories. My daughter (second child) was born without any pain relief and I plan the same for this one.

Try watching "The Business of Being Born" on netflix. It's not very educational as far as what you should do during natural birth, but I think it's ver empowering to help motivate you to stick with your decision.

I would highly recommend getting into a bath tub for as long as they will allow you to be in there. (they won't allow it after your water has broken, which in my case they popped my water when I was 7cm) also, don't allow them to put an iv in. tell them you are doing natural childbirth and have no need for an iv.

I did my first with just gas and air ( does that still count as natural?) and I think I only used it to control my breathing as it did jack for the pain. I laboured away at home for as long as I could before I went in and when I got there I was 9 cm and it wasn't safe to have anything else. I want to do it with just gas this time but I'm being induced for medical reasons and have heard it can be worse. Good luck brave mamma, hope you get what you wish for. X

Get a doula! Or look into it, I'm getting one this time around and I have heard stories about how amazing they are. I think it would really help. I know what its like to be scared into an epidural :(
