It is a serious deal. But, there are a lot of other more serious wastes of the 911 system. From an insiders view a kid calling isn't the end of the world. The woman calling because her dog got sprayed by a skunk is stupid and ridiculous. All the butt dialers are even worse. They waste resources as well. Should we charge all those people as well? The drug seekers calling for an ambulance to the ride to the hospital for a hang nail are a far bigger problem.

Last time daddy brought her into the police post to talk to his co-workers. She has had tv taken away and other things she likes. She is a kid. They will do stupid things. Her dad works there. She thinks that is how you get ahold of him. I think its time to teach her the non-emergency number. That way if she feels the need to call him at work she can and it wont be a big deal.

I think teaching her the non emergency number is a good idea. Maybe a LITTLE scare tactic too? Have her listen to a call that IS an emergency, but not too traumatic of course, and explain that daddy has to help those people so she needs to reserve calling him for when it's very important.

OMG......When that happens here the parents get a hefty fine to pay. lol Its like 1000 if your child calls when there is no need to call.

This. They fine people regularly for wasting the time of 911 dispatchers and officers. I would be furious with my child.
