I'm tired of my life... Nomo 4 kids; Mueang Phuket, Thailand 30487 posts

I'm tired of trying to my live my life to "people's" standards. I tired of feeling shunned because I'm not legally married. I'm tired of feeling like I need a suburban and a 400,000 dollar house and a perfect manicured yard. And all the up to date technology.

Honestly, I wanna go backwards. I want a small house, with a big yard. I wnna grow enough food to can and sustain my family for a year. I want goats and chickens, and want my kids to Learn how to be self sufficient. It won't be long until there is a pandemic or loss of resources. One day there won't be running water anymore or a plentiful amount if meat and produce at the store. Then what? I don't Want to wait till it's too late.

Once we can move back to Ohio, this is what I'm gonna do! I'd rather be outside with my kids all summer tending the garden and making goat milk soap and stuff.... Not listening to my kids fight over the iPad...

Just venting .. Learning about the census and world population scares me... We are gonna run out of resources before we know it. I'd love to know I taught my kids how to support land sustain themselves if something ever did happen in our life time

That's why I like where I live as far as resources are concerned. I try to have a garden every year and when I do plant stuff DD helps me so she knows what to do. There are also plenty pf deer and bear around as well as fish for meat.

I would hate to know what exactly is in a mcdonalds "hamburger". I know about the pink stuff. We hardly ever eat out, if I could I would get some chickens, I will one day.

I totally agree. I hate how much I have already let technology influence my children. I have been working on this a lot lately. Were going to ask our landlords if we can garden. We don't have much yard though :(

Yesterday was the first time it rained here in Abq since I can remember! Like more than a few drops. It's a drought here...

In Ohio at least I know it rains a shit ton and I have the opportunity to recycle water too

We got a storm last night. We usually get a decent amount of rain. We also live in a swampy area so the ground is pretty good for growing.

I personally dont think the worlds population has anything to do with dwindling resources, its mentality and selfishness of the growing populations thats the problem. Its the whole ME ME ME mentality. 1 person could use up more resources in one year than my whole family does in 1 year. Like you said, its about be self sustaining and living off the land, not using more than you need. I see these shows of ppl eating 5lbs burgers, but only eating a 1.4 of the burger and they what happens to the rest? It gets thrown away. We see ppl building homes that are way bigger than they actually need and so forth. So really its not the amount of ppl on this earth that is the problem, but the amount of ppl on this earth who just dont give a shit that is the problem.

Lol! My SIL wants to do it with me! I wish I could start a small "village". Lots of acres, lots of food.. Everyone Has a job to do and we just sustain our lives outside of the "norm"...

I agree with this... This is what I was really referring too. Not just population, but how we just waste resources and stuff and seem to just not care

I have had ppl make comments that its ppl like me that are the reason that the earths resources are dwindling. So because I have a large family, that makes me less resourceful? I disagree, infact i feel that most larger families are more resourceful by necessity lol. We grow our own garden, we can what is left over, or blanch and freeze it, we hunt for our meat, or by from farmers who sell their cows. My mom raises chickens, ducks, turkeys, rabbits, and lambs, all of which my children help participate in the killing, skinning, and gutting. Yeah our vehicle is big, uses a lot of fuel, but hell no more so than someones Hummer does, at least i actually need my vehicle lol. Our house is large, but no mansion to say the least, and we actually USE every room within our house. We dont just have rooms for "show" or land that we dont do anything with but to say, Hey look at what i have, but never use. My kids know how to sew and croschet, well the three oldest do anyway. One of these days they will be making their own clothing, and YES they want to! We homeschool, we hunt, we garden, and we live frugally I know many more ppl who dont do as well as that with just themselves, yet we are the problem?
