Quoting Ravey Candyass:" uh i've never had that done. they checked for gas, but never "assisted" my uterus shrinking."

Hmmm wonder if it's just the dr's I've went to then. It's always been done. They push on my stomach right above the incision to push out blood and to help with the uterus shrinking.

Interesting question. I'm not sure. I apparently hemorrhaged during my 1st csect and my vba2c and I still had the pp bleeding for 4wks with my 1st csect, going on week 3 of vaginal del. I agree w APs maybe it depends on person and their body.

They do that with vaginal births too. It's not "helping" but just checking the placement of the uterus, I think.

The nurses told me each time they came in what they were doing and what they were doing it for.

That's not why they do it. They're massaging it to prevent it from getting "boggy", which can lead to hemorrhage.
