Nope, I don't believe we evolved from apes. My whole thing is even if it takes millions of years for the evolving yo take place why can't we see apes evolve into humans? Why aren't there some humans that are still "part ape?"
Why wouldn't scientist be able to speed up the process and make an apr into a human? We can clone animals and humans, make organs out of practically nothing but can't speed up a process that's happened before? Nope. I'm the type that I need real proof that I can watch and see. I do believe in adaptation to an extent. But not full blown evolution.

Humans and apes both evolved from a common ancestor. Humans and apes evolved in separate ways. Apes aren't necessarily unevolved humans.

Evolution is driven by environment and time. It's not something one can recreate in a lab to the extent that natural evolution happens. Through selective breeding, we've refined species but that's not necessarily evolution.

You never watched Friends??

Ross is a paleontologist, and Phoebi is a true hippie at heart........so ones all about science and the other all about the universal spirit, they always argue about science and belief

Don't say that, it comes off as ignorant and arrogant. She could say the same for people who believe in what human beings say, being that we are imperfect creatures who make mistakes all the time. Everything is theory and nothing is proven.

Gravity is a theory.
The simple fact that you're sitting in your chair and not floating around proves that theory.

True, but this is a topic on evolution. Just because gravity has been "proven" doesn't mean evolution has. They are two unrelated theories. There are so many holes and gaps in evolution.

And new things are being brought to light quite frequently.

The great thing about science is it's concrete as well as malleable. There are some things that just are and you can't change those. There are some things we're just now making strides in. Just because it's not proved now doesn't make it not true. The world is a big place and the crust of it is very thick.

Evolution is harder to "prove" because it's not written down in a book that's been handed down for generations. It's a science that needs to be discovered, tested, and analyzed. Science isn't infallible and neither is the Bible, being as it was written by fallible men.

We shared a common ancestor ... I believe it was a small squirrel like creature ... our ancestors evolved from a certain sub-set of that species whilst thee ancestors of common apes evolved from a seperate sub-set. None of those ancestors are still in existance now (that we're aware of) due to natural selection.

At least that's what I remember from molecular genetics class.

True, you've got a point. I just like to regard things as theory until it is proven. The evidence for evolution is good, don't get me wrong, but there are still gaps that need to be filled. I'm just saying don't bash others until you know for a fact that what you believe is proven. And even if evolution is proven, it can never rule out the theory of intelligent design.
