Here is my view on it...I just posted it on FB.

I HATE signing on to social media on Father's day and I always have. It has turned into nothing but a day to put hard working single mothers down on all of the HARD work they do. It's not about being angry. It's not about being bitter. It's about accepting the role that they have and celebrating the day to day overcoming all of the hardships and pain that come along with it. Raising a child is a two person job. So if a woman is doing it alone they ARE a father too. Unless you've raised a child alone at some point in your life, you have no idea what it is like being mommy AND daddy and you REALLY have no room to talk about who can celebrate father's day and who can't.#beentheredonethat

What is your view?

I've never seen any of my friends put down single moms. They're just thankful for their dads & their children's fathers.

Are you talking about them just being ignored today? I mean, I respect hard working mothers very much. But I have no hesitations to celebrate Father's Day for the men in my life.

Even if you are a single parent it doesn't make you both parents. Yes a mother may work harder if she is single but that does not feel the void for the father. No one can be mommy and daddy.

Uhhhhh sorry but that's dumb.

Father's Day has nothing to do with putting anyone down, it's a day to celebrate fathers. Sooo grandfathers, uncles, your own dad, any dad. It doesn't just have to be the father of your kid.

Does mothers day put down single dads as well then?

Well your view is a lot jaded. It is not a day to put Single Mothers down. Mother's Day isn't simply a day to put Single Father's down, is it? No, I didn't think so.

I've been a Single Mom. I didn't try to claim Father's Day. Why? Because I'm not a Father. I'm a Mother. Regardless if you put extra work in or not, you are not a Father. It doesn;t diminish the fact that being a Single Parent is extremely difficult.

And I saw a few posts today making positive comments toward single moms. I didn't see that on Mother's Day for single dads though.

Noo. I am talkinga bout people that post stuff like this:

"Stop telling women Happy Father's Day. You may be an absolutely amazing mother, but you cannot be a father. The sooner people realize this, the sooner people will start to be more careful about who they have kids with. Your day was last month. Stop stealing a day from those fathers who are worth the credit."

Holidays are starting to become who should get the most recognition "oh I'm a single mom so I should be recognized on BOTH days"

I agree, a woman can not be a father there is no need to recognize her for fathers day. She didn't shoot any sperm, she isn't a dad.

Well women are not fathers. And being single doesn't turn you into on, it makes you are more involved mother. I think it's really sad and petty that you think Father's Day is degrading to single mothers. Get over it
