Why such a nightmare when he hasn't been with me for a day? ☮Hippie Jesus☮ 2 kids; West Virginia 10560 posts

After my 3 year old has been with me for days and days straight, he is an ANGEL. But then when he goes to stay the night with his dad or spends the night with his grandma, he comes back like little Satan spawn... He throws more tantrums, and worse than usual ones at that and he is really defiant. He says no about everything that he's asked to do or does exactly what he's asked not to do.

What's the deal? If I just keep him connected to my hip 24/7 forever, he's a little darling, but obviously that isn't possible since he's got to visit his dad at least.

Because he probably gets away with things that he knows you don't allow when he is other places.

Both of my,daughters do that too. Every other weekend they go with, their dad. Its the transition. Plus they get away with murder when they are over there.

:!: This.

My 4 year old does the same shit after being with my mother, even when I'm around both of them.

My son turns into a nightmare when he's around his grandparents without me. They let him get away with anything and everything, give him whatever he wants (including candy before dinner), stays up late, gets totally babied and beyond spoiled. Then I get him back and it's just awful.

Same thing happens with my DS (who's 3) whenever he goes and stays with my parents.
