Why did the nurse ask me? ☮Hippie Jesus☮ 2 kids; West Virginia 10560 posts

It's completely unimportant and doesn't really matter, but at my 38 week appointment today, the nurse who came in to get my BP, weight, urine dip, and all that before the doctor came in to see me asked if I had been scheduled for a c-section.

Why? I didn't have a c-section last time... Why would I be scheduled for a c-section and what did it matter to her at this particular appointment?

If you have no reason for one she probably just got you mixed up with someone else.

Quoting Jillynne:" What did you tell her?"

I looked at her all confused like and said, "Uh... No?" And she just said okay and went on about her duties.

She may have gotten you mixed up with another patient. It happens.

Maybe she would have had to check more if you were planning on one? Just a guess, I have no idea.

maybe she glanced at someone else's chart? At one of my appointments the nurse mentioned my UTI or something, yet I haven't had one this pregnancy, she said she glanced at the wrong chart, oops.

Is it a bigger doc office? Sometimes they have so many patients that it's hard to keep straight whos getting what done so they just ask to be sure in case of paperwork and stuff like that

It was sort of like, "Oh, I see you're 37, almost 38 weeks. Are you scheduled for a c-section?"

"Um... *long pause* No?"

"Oh, okay, now come on over so I can get your BP."

And that was it...

Could be a really common thing in their office with other patients. Or she may have had you confused with someone else.

She was probably asking just to get all her ducks in a row with the paperwork.

when I had a scheduled c-section I had to have extra blood work and have pre-op screening questions done at the office and by the hospital. Maybe she was checking to see if she needed to set that all up

I'm just about 39 weeks now and I was just asked the same question at my appointment last week. Not sure if maybe they would have had to do extra something if I was, or if they were just curious!
