Anyone had their child test high for lead in blood? Seneca Thurman 2 kids; Nashville, Tennessee 592 posts

I'm so stressed out! I took my son for his 24 month checkup last monday and got a call that his blood tested high for lead. Now recently, my husband just got a job working as a HVAC installer and has been working in construction as well. I had no clue that he may be bringing lead dust in the house but now that my sons lead level is high, I'm soo stressed and worried and idk what to do! I've gotten my husband to change clothes before coming home and wash his hands, but I feel like thats not enough! How can we keep all the lead dust out of our house if he cannot take a shower at work? Now here I am, waiting on another blood test to confirm that my sons levels are indeed still high and my hubby walks in, in his work clothes! Ugh! I feel so confused because even if he does change before coming home, I still have to wash his clothes and I'm pregnant so that means I'm getting it and so is my unborn child!! Soo soo stressed, has anyone else delt with this kinda thing before??

Don't stress! Did the pedi give you a suggestion as to why it's happening? I have never heard of that.

Are you sure it's not in your house? That happened to both SIL and my best friends sons recently, and in both cases there was lead IN their homes

DS tested for high levels of lead at his 24 month check up also. We were freaking out! They retested him though, and it came back fine on the second test. DH now works as an HVAC tech also, he just showers as soon as he gets home.

They won't tell me a thing! I went back friday for them to test him again and all they told me was he was at a 6 when he should be like a 2 or something. Then today, I called them back for the results and they tell me they haven't received them yet! UGH, I mean I know its not their fault they don't have them, but I need some reassurance or something!! All I got was a "we'll call you monday" and they have yet to do that!I had to call them! Idk, its just scary because I've had a headache a day lately and I hope both my babies are okay. Whenever, my son would get sick, my stomach would stay in knots, now I feel like I'll never stop stressing!! Whats worse is that people with high lead in their blood don't have any symptoms! So I can't tell if my baby boy is okay or not...

My son tested high. It turned out someone didn't wear gloves when they were messing with the tube to be tested, and it was a fluke.

We had our home/water tested for lead, and there wasn't any traces.

omg! my son's not two yet so we haven't got tested but my husband is an HVAC installer too!

Everytime we go to well baby appts the sheet I fill out asks if anyone in the home works in an industry where they are exposed to lead and I always put yes but they still haven't tested him.

My nephew's was high. They gave my sister a cup to put their tap water in to be sent off for testing. Turned out they had high lead in their water.

God, that would piss me off! ugh, but then again, I'd be relieved! I know its not in the house or the water, cuz he has lived here his entire life and the house was built in 1985 so I doubt its the house. I'm pretty sure its the new job, my hubby is constantly under houses installing stuff(I don't know what its called) so I was sure it was from him. This is like the fourth time they've tested, because the only reason they tested his blood this time was for tenncare.

I'll probably have that done if this last test comes back high. I just hope it doesn't

I'm sorry you're scared...my child has never tested high for lead, but I do know how it feels to be worried and waiting for test results. I'll be praying it all works out and that you find out soon. If his test still comes back high, I hope they can tell you the reason.

On a side note, my sister's is an HVAC tech, and I've never heard of this.

I still have not received a phone call or anything about the results! I've been cleaning my house for the past 4 days trying to get it off my mind and my hubby thinks I've gone crazy!! UGH!! I'm calling again tomorrow first thing in the morning to see if they have the results or at least some advice as to what it could be and how to get it out of my house! I just hope my baby is okay...

Finally gave in and called the assholes to find out if they got the test results back or not, and they did! What you can't call me?Apparently, his blood came back normal and since there wasn't an issue, they just thought they would let it be!! Ugh! I'm happy hes fine but really??
