I have been on bed rest since 27 weeks 3 days. Its been a long journey but I am now 34 weeks 3 days. My doctor said that if baby comes at 36 weeks he will be allowed to come home with us instead of staying in the NICU. Has anyone else had their baby at 36 weeks and taken them home with them?

yes, my older son was born at 36wks exactly and we stayed 3 days in the hospital before going home. He did have some apnea issues but he was otherwise healthy.

A baby at any gestation can stay in the NICU. But 36 weeks is fairly developed. So there is a less chance.

My daughter was born at 36 weeks, she came home with us the day after she was born.

I think it's a bit strange that he would tell you that since it isn't something he can guarantee, but it's a good possibility. My niece was born at 36 weeks and did just fine, never had to go to the NICU.

As said by Jazzzz, a baby at any gestation can stay in the NICU depending on the health conditions of baby.
