Some of you may remember me, I haven't been on lately since my last deployment return. My SIL had a baby girl last year, sweetest angel ever. When she was 7 months old they put her to sleep in her carseat swaddled, and unfortunately the seat rocked back and she slid up towards the canopy and when they found her in the morning on her back she had passed. The coroner ruled out any foul play and said it was from asphyxiation. I just want you all to know that if you do have a baby asleep in a carseat to at LEAST buckle them in. She would be turning a year old next week. We're all still healing but I hope this story can at least prevent ONE loss then it's worth sharing.

This reminds me of something that happened to my youth pastor and his wife. I'll refer to my youth pastor as Y and his wife as K. We were at a youth convention and we were all walking across a street. Y & K's baby was about 4 months. He was in his carseat, but wasn't buckled in. As K is walking across the street, the carseat tips forward and the baby beings to FALL OUT. Everyone is watching this happen and it feels like it was in slow-motion or something. Our pastor over the whole church was walking right by the carseat and SOMEHOW he reached forward and caught the baby right before he hit the ground. K was crying hysterically because the reality of the situation was that the baby could have been killed by the fall alone. I'm pretty sure she never left a child in a carseat unbuckled after that. And this was her 3rd child!

Just goes to show, better safe than sorry!

That's so sad, but thank you very much for sharing your story. I always buckle my lil man in but sometimes his dad doesn't (while in stroller because its one of those that you're carseat fits into) I will make sure to share this story with him and hopefully it will change his mind
