Diarrhea and Diaper Rash Jeeper 1 child; Orlando, Florida 2287 posts

I am pretty sure it's from teething but DD has had diarrhea for about 4 days now and the poor kid has been going through about 20 diapers a day and keeps getting awful diaper rash. Every time I get it cleared up it comes right back. She is allergic to Zinc oxide to every diaper change she gets smeared up with A&D ointment and corn starch baby powder and no more wipes she has been getting her butt sprayed off but I can't seem to keep the diaper rash at bay. I have tried cloth diapers, nakie time, sunny butt, and not using wipes. I just don't know what to do for her anymore. Only my child would cut 12 molars at once :(

Find some really thick cream that doesn't have zinc in it and put a bunch of baby powder on top. It will create a clay-like barrier for her bum. I had to do that with my littles because they have eczema that would break out if any urine touched their skin.

aww poor thing...sounds like you are doing a lot of different things to try and help it, so I'm not sure what to suggest, someone told me to use cornstarch but I guess you've already tried that! Hopefully the teething doesn't take too long, sounds like you are doing your best to not let the rash get out of hand

I haven't seen any creams other than the A&D ointment without zinc in them. I have heard that the cloth diaper creams don't have zinc though the problem is I am 100% broke until her dad gets paid on Thursday and gives me my weekly child support. Also the cloth diaper ones I would have to order online and wait for them to come.

It got so bad at one point I couldn't even put a diaper on her. It cleared up completely yesterday and her dad didn't put any cream on her when he put her to bed during his visit last night just powder and she woke up with the rash again. She has broken through 3 of the molars recently so hopefully the other 9 will come quickly and she will be over this. At least she isn't fussy though just has the diarrhea
