Oh lordy am I anxious. I have 3 boys. 4.5 yo, 2.5 yo and 3 mo. When I was pregnant with my oldest I had an abnormal pap, followed by a normal pap after his birth. I didn't have another pap until last month. It came back ASCUS+HPV. So I start googling (while waiting for my colposcopy next week) and find that vaginal birth is contraindicated with cervical cancer because it can force the cancer cells into the blood stream and cause it to recur elsewhere.
So IF I have cancer I have a 60% chance that having my baby vaginally has caused it to metastasize and I have a 15% chance of surviving.
BUT, what if I had cancer before my second baby was born? Two vaginal births? Does that make it a 120% chance?

What are the odds of ASCUS and HPV being cancer? I need a number! I couldn't sleep last night, I'm weepy, my b/p was 140/90 today...I need to know as much as possible about my situation.

Also I had weird bleeding a couple months ago and constant menstrual cramp type pain. I have pain when urinating sometimes and kidney pain as well. (May be unrelated.)

First off, Sorry about your worries. I really hope everything turns out fine. The only thing I can say is stop googling!!!
My mom has Breast Cancer and my Dad has Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma (cancer as well)

My mom was given a year to live and they gave my dad 3 Months to live...this was 6 years ago. My mom is almost in remission and my dad is being the bestest trooper ever. Google told me my dad had a 5% chance. Google does not know all.
The best thing you can do is to talk with your doctor and stay positive!!!
You can do this :)

I have had recurring abnormal paps since my first in 2008. I finally had a LEEP done last week (its a cone biopsy if the cervix). Everything so far has come back just as mild displasia but they can't figure out why, so we got the LEEP done. I find out in a few weeks if they find anything... it's a bit scary but most likely it's not cancer. Whats your doc say? Are you getting a colposcopy done?

i dont think two births would automatically make you get cancer (120%chance). logically it would be increased to 75% if i figured that out right (eta-i didnt figure that out right...too lazy right now, but 60+60% of 40 i think)
but that doesnt include any complication influences multiple births would have-like if the second time is even higher risk. this is only if the risk is the same each birth.

sounds like you are freaking yourself out, wait until you find out more news before getting freaked out. research what you have to if you have to but remember you have a family and are living now, and as far as you know you dont have anything like that. dont make yourself sick over it prematurely, kwim?
good luck.

Stop googling!! Google does not know your exact case. Trust in your doctor, and try to relax a little bit.

Thanks everyone, I have a fussy baby so sorry if this is short.

My colposcopy is scheduled for Monday and I'll find out more when those results come in..
I know I should stay off Google, I'm just an information freak!

good luck! I had two done over a couple years, both coming back as only mild dysplasia which he thought would just clear up on its own, but it didn't. So the LEEP I just had is kinda like a treatment and a prevention.

I wish they'd just take it all out..I'm done having babies so it seems like it's just there to grow cancer.

I'm a bit late to the thread but just wanted to say I'm in the same boat. My annual ECC (endocervical curettage) came back with AGCUS a couple of weeks ago. I had adenocarcinoma in situ in 2009 but got clean margins with a LEEP/cone and haven't had so much as a single abnormal cell since, until these recent findings. I'm scheduled for a CKC 7/02 and I'm scared shitless. This sucks so much. Hoping we all get negative results.

I had my colposcopy today. They took 5 biopsies including the one from inside the cervix. I'm bleeding more than I thought I would but I guess they took lots of samples. They didn't really tell me anything except that missing all the other paps over the years make me higher risk and my mom and her mom having cervical cancer put me at higher risk. The first doctor did say that he doesn't think it's cancer yet judging by my pap results, but he could be wrong (his words). The second dr made a remark like "We've seen some really scary looking cells in here, yours don't look that bad" (I can't remember exactly what he said but it was something similar). Should have results somewhere between 4 days and 2 weeks.

Hope for good results for both of us!

Right? Isn't that excessive?

I don't think it's excessive in that you can't be too thorough when it comes to cancer IMO. I just know how much they freakin HURT and with five I think I would have passed out. I can't fathom why they don't offer pain control for that procedure.

It wasn't *too* bad pain wise but I did almost pass out. I wonder if I did have pain but didn't feel it? I dunno. There was one that he clamped and it wouldn't cut! He tried it 3-4 times! At that point the other dr asked if I was ok and I realized that I was feeling flushed and fuzzy. My head went fuzzy and my vision got dark, then it went back to normal but I was woozy for hours.

The Drs were both very compassionate and nice. I usually don't like having male Drs but they were both male. I'm glad I felt comfortable with them.
