When I was little I was quiet so a lot of kids did that to me. I would sit & cry then look over at my mom doing the same thing then get up to make her happy lol. As soon as I read this though I thought of my 7 month old sons pouty sad face in that situation & cried a little myself!

Thanks! He has a kindle fire, I'll look on the apps and see if I can find something helpful that will keep him interested.

Are there words/letters that he just can't pronounce though? Like s's. Colt can't say any word with an s in front of it. Snack is "nack", small is "mall", snail is "nail', etc.

His Pawpaw is worried about his speach but we weren't really and my mom isnt. I know it'll be better once he starts school but I don't want it to inhibit in making friends now because of it.

My daughter was in speech therapy for a while and then they took a break for a bit. She talks and says everything but she doesnt say some letters yet. Like her "f"'s Something about the flow of air off her tongue, so instead of saying Fork, she will say tork.... She can say "ffffff" and ork... but when you ask her to say it all together she will say fff-t-ork cause she isnt letting the air flow off her tongue and cutting off everything with the T sound. Im going to call and get her back into speech she only went one day a week. Im not sure it was doing much but she is 4 years and 2 months old. Shes also really lazy someitmes she just says starts to words like this is our how(house) or can i have a ba(bath) then i say the word and she repeats it so i know she can say it. She just doesnt cause shes so used to being lazy haha

I'm just gonna put this out there concerning the 'L' sound... It's one of the more complex sounds and doesn't emerge until later. The SLP told me, it's usually picked up by age 6.

As for your other concerns, like others have suggested maybe a speech eval.

Lucas still has trouble with the L sound. He replaces it with a y sound a lot. I have noticed since he started preschool, even only going for a couple of days a week it has dramatically improved his manners, following directions and his social skills. He is learning so much. I didn't think it was a big deal that I held off on school but now I wish I had started him a little bit earlier.

Yeah, I'm still having an internal debate about wether or not to try to start him this August but I really don't want to pay for it, I'd rather save that money. Now that everyone has left here or are just super busy, he never gets play dates anymore though and I feel like he really needs more kid interaction.

And Lucas has always spoke so well!! I remember when he was around 2 and he pointed out the sea turtle and said it perfectly, lmao. It was adorable.

He seriously loves school now. I really struggled with the decision. He is supposed to start pre k this fall and it is going to be $200 a month for 4 days a week from 9 to 12 or $220 for 5 days a week. I think it was $140 when he was going 2 times a week last year. He starts pre k this year though. He goes to a Methodist church. I really looked around for a half day program that he only went two or 3 days a week so he could get used to school and it wouldn't be too expensive. I actually put aside $2000 from our taxes this year so we wouldn't worry about having to pay tuition monthly for pre k.

Colt still has two years till he can start kindergarten (because of his birthday), so even if we don't start pre-k this year, he still has one more year to do it before kindergarten. I'm not entirely sure he's ready to start pre-k because he likes to talk in his made up language a lot and rarely answers a question with a straight answer, whether he knows the answer or not, lol. It just gets harder as they get older!! When he was a baby, all the decision seemed so simple!

Yeah you can register him for pre k at one of the elementary schools next year! Normally registration is in the spring. They only have public pre k for kids here whose parents are incarcerated or who are really delayed. Private pre k was our only option. Do any churches offer like 2 days a week around you? Normally they are the best priced and I am sure he would love the interaction. There was a little boy in Lucas' three year old class who started the year not being able to talk at all and by the end of the year he was communicating pretty well. I know it is a hard decision. Lucas only started this past spring and I am praying he gets into the pre k program. He is next on the list!

Can they do public pre k here if I get him signed up early enough? I've looked in to a few last year. That Lutheran church on 12th and santa fe can go just twice a week and it was pretty cheap but now we live across town from it.

I think because of his birthday he won't qualify for public pre k until next year. Registration is normally in march or April. You will have to just call the elementary school he would go to and find out when pre k registration is. For this fall though I think he would have to do a private place like a church or something. I googled online and talked to people in the area, like my neighbors about preschool programs and his school came up like 3 times.

I'm horrible about finding out info about this stuff. I wish Brian would find it all out for me, lol!! I'll look in to his school about pre-k next year. I know that all these elementary schools over here are all super full, so I hope that it won't be an issue.
