My daughter is 45 and is touching over weight but isnt there yet but they told me to watch what she eats so she doesnt become over weight. This shocked me bc my daughter is pretty thin. Her height is average. So what are these people talking about? How much does your 5 year old weigh?

My son just went to his 5 year check up and he weighed 46 pounds. The doctor said it is completely within normal limits.

My son just turned 6 and he is 39lbs, but he is also very short for his age, 5th percentile for height 9th for weight. she looks average to me, not too thin and def not overweight.

My 6yo weighs about 50lbs & my 4yo weighs just under 40. They are on the taller side of the growth curve.

Around 42 pounds. She's always been average weight and above average height.

My 4 year old is 40 lbs. He is in the 50% percentile for his weight and 90% for height. The drs said he is normal. Idk what your dr is smoking but she is NOT anywhere near being overweight! Maybe it has to do with the fact that she is in the 70% percentile for her weight because I know I was always told 50% percentile in both weight and height is where they like children to be measuring because that's considered average. My dr did say at one time my daughter was going to be overweight if we didn't change her diet and I backed down a LOT with her....cutting out all junk foods and only serving her one portion at each meal. Well last time we went to WIC, they were actually concerned about her weight because she dropped from being in the 50% percentile to 30% and asked what I had changed. So I explained to them that the dr told me to change her diet and cut down on portions because she was close to being obese and they laughed and said she has NEVER been close to being considered overweight on their scales. She's always been average on her weight and way behind on her height but that's because she had IUGR in utero and always struggled with height and weight before. Drs don't know EVERYTHING. She looks fine to me mama! I would just keep her diet the same and ignore what the dr is telling you.

My oldest was 90% for both weight and height. He weighed 47lbs. Dr said as long as height and weight are the same or weight is less than height, we're good.

Yea being that she is 70% that may be the reason. Thank you I wont.

Oh that may be the reason shes in teh 70%ile for her weight and the 46%ile for height. She didnt say she was over weight just that she was close. Was wondering if i should change anything

IMO, I wouldn't worry about it too much. I mean as long as you're feeding her healthy stuff, and she's not stuck in the house in front of the tv all of the time, there isn't much else you can do. Kids weight and height fluctuate a bit. They seem to chunk up a bit right before a growth spurt.

I actually just noticed today that my middle son (who is built much differently than my oldest) is getting a little extra chunk accumulating. His height/weight are approx 50%/50% . He's 3 and I'm betting that he's going to be going through a growth spurt soon. He's been in 3T for over a year and half, so he's due.

her doctor is a goofball that must be reading the growth chart wrong. my dd just turned 6 in may and weighs 41lbs but she is small for her age.
