You do also know that it is normal for BF babies to only poop once in a 7-10 day period right? And for formula fed babies it's 5-7 days in between.

They can be hungry and constipated but you would also notice they are not eating as much. when they do it is not an easy task because they will be frustrated and latch and unlatch a lot. They will also spit up more because of it and become fussy and strain. I would just keep a close eye on when he goes and the consistency of the poop so you can let your doctor know.

If it is not hard I wouldn't worry so much most babies who have constipation have rock hard bowel movements that look like little rabbit pellets.

my son is very sensitive to formula. he dosent have a lactose "allergy" just there is something in the formula that upsets him. so he gets soy ( there are other non dairy, non soy formula options) I breast feed 98% of the time and I can have NO red sauce ( no pizza, no spaghetti, nothing like that) or beans. nothing gassy or spicy. He to was on on zantac .08 twice a day until he was 5 months old. I couldn't drink coffee either. Try those things while you wait for your dr appt. He only spit on on reg formula with breast milk you could see him burp up acid and kinda choke on it ( before meds) and he would get super fussy. now at 6 months he's pretty much all better. His "gut had to close". Colic calm helps a ton!

An upset tummy of any kind can make them want to eat more. Just had a convo with the pedi about this last month.. GL!
