Wanting to be induced! Redhead&lovingit 18 kids; Charter Township of Clinton, Michigan 50 posts

I know baby needs to cook as long as possible but what is the soonest I can look at my doctor and say I want to be induced. Im really scared. Monday doc sent me to the hospital cause she didnt like the babys heart rate or lack of movement or my blood pressure. Baby boy really hasnt been moving very much in two weeks. I feel him move maybe once or twice a day. I had a ultra sound today 35 weeks and 4 days. Due too all this stuff. Babys head is measuring 40 weeks and a day. The rest of him is measuring 38 weeks and two days. He didnt move at all during the ultra sound and that bothered the tech too. I see my doctor next Wednesday which ill be 36 weeks. I want her to induce me cause I feel as though baby can get better taken care of out of me then inside of me if there is something wrong. And I dont want to keep rushing to the hospital to be put on monitors and not get told anything and stress out everyday. Its not good for baby and its not good for me. So when is the soonest I can ask doctor to induce me?

Just, stahp. If the doctors were truly concerned, the baby would be out already.

Unless you have significant emergency problems, 39 weeks.

That's the policy at least here in Washington.

If you have a good doctor he won't induce you electively until 39 weeks. Now if they feel something is wrong with the baby then they may induce sooner. But at this point there is not much room to move anymore so you feeling less movement is normal.

if there is any problems the doctor will talk to you about inducing. my sister was induced at 37 weeks due to an 11lb baby. the amniotic fluid had an infection that spread to the baby. you could probably be induced at 39 weeks. but anything before then wouldn't happen unless there was a big problem. I'm hoping everything is ok for you! good luck

If there is a legitimate medical need for you to be induced, then that's up to your doctor to decide. Otherwise, it's best to just wait until your baby is ready to be born.

If there was something wrong, they'd induce you.

There's not much room left in your uterus so you won't feel much movement. Also, babies can be more active at night when you are sleeping and still.

if there is no real danger to the baby, odds are you wont be induced any earlier than 39 weeks unless your doc is an idiot.

If there were significant problems the doctor would already induce you. My doctors told me they may have to induce plenty of times but they decided against inducing me until it was absolutely necessary and were going to induce me at 37 weeks only due to severe medical need. He decided to come on his own at 36 weeks and 5 days and I worried the whole time something would be wrong with him and he would have to go to the nicu, I got lucky though..my SIL who went a few days before she was due had all kinds of issues. You never know and you should really keep baby in for as long as possible.

Thank you ladies. Im just scared. When I was pregnant with my daughter she moved like a crazy woman until the day she was born. And all the things doc is making me do and not getting any answers is bugging me too. Ill try and relax as much as possible until he decides to come.

Some babies just get lazy.

I get to be induced between 39 and 40 weeks because I have a history of 11lbers and a shoulder dystocia and a 4th degree tear. Preventive measures, but I won't let them do it before 39 weeks and they don't even let me ask.

All babies are different. Maybe it's a sign that this will be calm, laid back baby :) Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy, just try to relax and enjoy it.
