Medela Pump In Style is acting funny.. Emily Dickinson 18 kids; Indiana 57844 posts

I'm going to call Medela tomorrow morning but in case anyone else went through it...figured I'd check her first.

I've only been using this thing for 3 weeks so I'll be pissed if its dying.

Essentially, when its on the first stage, it sounds fine for the most part...suction is strong enough, anyway. When it moves to the second stage, it makes an awful noise and then the suction goes down like crazy. If I turn it off and turn it on, the sound goes away and all is well...because I'm on the first stage, it seems.

The higher I turn up the suction, the weirder/louder the noise is.

Anyone?
Bueller?

Any time I've had an issue with my pump in style its been because something wasn't attached properly. Usually the little white guys. Other than that, I have no clue. :(

hmmm, my pump in style was pretty noisy too and it worked fine.

If it doesn't have enough suction, definitely call Medela. They are too expensive to crap the bed so soon.

That is the consensus on the intrawebz but I swear I am looking at them and they look like they are firmly attached and in working order.

I guess I figured if it was something like that it wouldn't stop mid session...does that make sense?

Yeah, it goes from like full awesome suction to NOTHING in a matter of seconds midway through the session. It sucks because I was doing so well until the last two pumping sessions :(

Thanks, dear.
I'm trying so hard here and it feels like everything is always going wrong.

I know you are, and that's why you are such a good mom. No matter what happens concerning breastfeeding. <3

I do hope Medela fixes this somehow.

From what I've read, they have really good customer service so we shall see. :)

They better for how much they cost! It pained me to pay that all those years ago.

My insurance paid for mine, thankfully, but still!

They could be getting loose when it starts sucking harder. Take them off and try reattaching them?

I did that after my last session! Wish me luck in about 20 minutes when I have to pump again!

Does the suction stop completely? Or does it just stop auctioning on your boob? If the machine is still running but not attached properly you could have the wrong size plastic things that form to your boobs.. You might need bigger or smaller and not the standard that comes with it.
