DD turned 11 months old today she has been able to stand unsupported for 2 months now but every time she realizes she's doing it she freaks out and will slowly sit down. She did the same thing with sitting she could sit on her own for over a month before she actually did it. Every time I would sit her up she would sit there and cry because she was scared. She has taken 3 steps and then got scared and grabbed the table again. She can walk holding just one hand but just won't stand on her own. How can I boost her confidence so she stops freaking out all the time lol

My son does this, he's almost 15 months now and still only walks when he wants to.

Quoting SherryandMatt:" She's a cautious girl:) Hopefully she stays like that into her later years!!! I could have used a bit of caution... LOL"She's not overly cautious though she only does it when there is nothing to hold on to she has absolutely no problem climbing things and falling off of things lol. It gets even weirder she will climb off the couch, my bed, and the chair but freaks out of climbing down the 3 inch step at my parents house.

Could mean she will have a fear of heights! Apparently my dad was like this and if he can't hang on to something and he's high up he will freak out. He couldn't climb a ladder 900 ft into the air if he's hanging on but cannot stand near the edge of the Grand Canyon. She just feels insecure if she doesn't have anything to hold which is fine. Just let her figure out she can do it without holding on and she will!
