I had to recertifie my 2 year old yesterday. he has always been very average for his age his pedi has never had an issue on his weight and height. well yesterday they weighed and measured him. hes 31 pounds and 33 inches tall. they said he was overweight for his age. i really dont think that is overweight and it really pissed me off. how big is everyone elses 2 year old?

I've always been told to ignore the WIC people, and that they tell a lot of babies that they're overweight. :?

I cant remember exactly how tall ds was at his last app but he's not yet 2 and exactly 30lbs. He's pretty tall though I know that he was in the 95 percentile.

Where was he on the growth chart?

What was his percentile?

WIC usually never uses the term 'overweight' with clients, but if there was a change in his growth curve it would be worth mentioning.

WIC uses the same AAP guidelines for BMI as pediatricians

If your pedi hasn't said anything, there's no reason to be concerned or angry at WIC. Just listen and leave.

my 3 1/2 year old is only 30lbs and 37inches. My son has always been underweight and short. I hate it when people make comments about him so I feel for you.

No they don't. My son was in the 5th percentile with the pedi and 3 days later with no weight gain he was in the 50th with WIC. There's no way they use the same chart!

My son is 90th% for weight & 97th% for height. He has never been called overweight by WIC or his pedi. He's effin' HUGE....stats above and that was as of May.

They do. Someone may have read the chart wrong, thus getting different results.
