We just got here, so we'll be here for at least 2 1/2 years (Husband's contract is up in 2015). We might put in an extension for an extra 3 years, or we may go somewhere else, if he decides to stay in. If he deploys, I'm staying here with my two (or 3 depending on when/if he goes) children. I don't have family here either so making friends is something I'm definitely going to try and do. I think we're going to try and sell this house even though it'll be a pain in the butt with how much things cost here....the heating...I feel like I'm some sort of pioneer with how it's set up lol

We haven't experienced one yet. I'm terrified of -50.

We are here til oct 2014. His contract is up oct 2016. We were going to extend but I hate hate hate it. Lol but I'm from tx. I love heat. And hate being far away from family. I've had crappy luck making friends. I made one great one but she moved back to tx. So here I am just visiting now dreading going back. I can not stay if he deploys. Ugh if go nuts.

How old are your kids? I have a 4yr old daughter.. and due with.another girl.

As for our house... We used our va loan and we can't sell it right now unless we sell it for more than we paid. So its either that or rent it out. But idk when to do that :/

I've never lived in a state that didn't snow or had a cold winter, so I really just want that for a couple years. I cannot stand the cold any longer.

Mine was set to deploy next Spring, but they cancelled it, now he's on GRF (I think it's called) where he will deploy if something kicks off.

As far as the house selling, is that how it works with a VA loan? If so, we'll need to do some home improvements to up the value lol. I don't want to be stuck with this house forever, even though I do like it.

So was my hubs.. Now its possibly earlier. And its to sell/rent the house or not.. I don't want to be homeless but I don't wanna be stuck with the house if he does leave.

And ya, va rolls all costs into your loan. We bought it at 180k and owe 191k now... And had it since feb 2012. So we'd have to sell it for 200k to break even or a tad positive.
