Would you eat it? OhSoFKN Fabulous Due December 19 (girl); 1 child; Land O' Lakes, Florida 2314 posts

Yesterday I pulled meat out from the freezer to thaw out for dinner. Well dinner came around and I just wasn't in the mood to cook and neither was DH. I put it in the fridge and that's where it's been all day. I planned on making Chili tonight and using the ground beef. Is it okay to eat? With being pregnant I'm kind of leary. DH says I will be fine, but since it sat out all day up until night I'm just not sure. He says since when I took it out and it was frozen solid, sat out all day, then put in fridge it isn't bad. I'm going to make sure it's fully well done when I cook it. Anyway, think the meat is still good? Thanks!

Was it still cold when you put it in the fridge? If so, you'll be fine. If it was warm/room temp when you put it in, I wouldn't eat it.

So, it sat outside frozen and then was put in the fridge since yesterday?
It's fine to eat (once you cook it obv).

I do this all the time. The meat is fine. You would know by its smell if it is bad.
Use your nose as a guide :) That's what I do.

I do that all the time, thaw it out, stick it back in the fridge for a day or 3 hasn't killed any of us.

Okay. When I open it I will smell it lol

It was room temp. When I put it back. It sat out from afternoon to night then put in the fridge. When I pulled it out to thaw it was rock hard.

I'm just leery about raw meats and a few other items. Every since I worked in food service and had to take food safety courses, I can just see the bacteria multiplying in my head that they show on the videos. I have a hard time getting past that now lol.

If it sat for more than an hour at room temp you should trash it. Raw meat can sit 1hr at room temp before significant bacterial growth, cooked foods can sit at room temp for up to 4 hours.
