this might be stupid since i have already had one and everything went fine, but im extremely nervous and pretty much terrified for my repeat c section! i had the epidural with my first since i was induced and c section wasnt planned. With this one i am getting a spinal...and that makes me nervous. not to mention this is a big surgery anyways!

are spinals better than epidurals?
have your repeats went as good as your first?
my c section is scheduled for July 3rd. The closer it gets the more I wanna break down!!

I've had 3 csections. One emergency and two repeats. My repeats were much much easier than my emergency one. The spinal was actually easier than the epi for me.

does it work as well?
I definitely don't want to feel anything and my epidural I didn't but it took HOURS to wear off!!

I had a scheduled c section with my one and only pregnancy and the spinal was rough for me but they said it was from being so swollen and they couldn't see my spine very well so they had to dig for what seemed like an eternity! i'm sure it won't be near as bad for you! I have heard that it was a breeze for my friends who have had c sections. Goodluck!

It worked better than my epi did. It went up to the bottom of my b**bs lol. Half my b**b was numb, and half wasn't. And it didn't take too long to wear off, I think a little over an hour or so. I was usually in recovery for about 30-45 minutes and then it took another 45 minutes or so before it started wearing off (times could be off lol)

my doctor said spinals go with gravity so they are going to put me on a table that lifts and lowers my top and bottom...
I just don't know what to think!
I'm so excited to see my little boy but so terrified also!!

My 2nd one was way better than the 1st. My 1st was an emergency also. The spinal is way better. Having my 3rd c-section on july 15th. I healed faster the second time. Its always scary goin in for a surgery. I'm nervous too. I had meds put in with my spinal amd didn't need pain pills until the 2nd day, which was nice cause I was actually alert n able to bond with baby. Good luck, everything will be fine!

wow, that is soon!! my dr usually has me stay in bed for at least 18 hours after. Both of mine have been scheduled c-sections. The recovery has been fine. Better the 2nd time than the 1st since i knew what to expect from the recovery. Usually the spinal starts to wear off within an hour or two. If possible, ask to have the catheter put in after your spinal is put in. Its so much better not having to feel it get put in.

I asked that today ay my appointment! They said they put the catheter in after my spinal. Take it out when I want to start getting up and walking and then I have 6 hours to pee after that or they put it back in!
I go in at 6am July 3rd and they cut at 8am!

I think my biggest fear is the spinal since I didn't have it with my first and I've never had one before. My dr said they work better than epidurals. And that once they have the baby out they will give me a medicine to kind of make me go to sleep almost. She said it will relax my body for the rest of the surgery.but of course that is after I see my baby boy and his father takes him out of the room!! (:

Don't be scared of the spinal. I have had two and they worked wonderfully and wear off shortly after the surgery is done. My sister had an epidural with her first and when they moved her it partially came out and halfway thru she started feeling everything. unfortunately they didn't check it cause.they didn't know it was messed up and just pumped more meds into it and she was in full total pain til the next.day when the anesthesiologist came to check her. it was a nightmare!! I wouldn't let them give me an epidural, no way. Spinal is quick and easy and then you can basically control the pain meds you take aterwards. So don't worry. I'm gearing.up for.my third csection in November . Good luck
