I need advice on evicting this baby... last Wednesday he was 7 1/2lbs and I was almost 2 centimeters dilated & 80% thinned out. I'm 38 weeks and 2 days now. I was really hoping for a VBAC but if he goes over 8 1/2lbs my doc isn't comfortable letting me. I know I can refuse a c section but I don't want to put my baby or myself in any danger. Also home birth isn't a option. I have tried walking, inserted evening primrose oil capsules (haven't taken them by mouth), doing all kinds of exercises on a exercise ball, nipple stimulation, and sex. Nothing seems to be helping. The nipple stimulation will cause pretty intense contractions until I stop & they just slowly die down. I have thought about doing castro oil but i have read conflicting research on how safe that really is so that's out of the question. This isn't about me being impatient or uncomfortable. I just want to experience a vaginal birth for what is probably my last baby.

Ultrasounds can be up to 2+lbs off so them saying the baby is 7 lbs could be wrong and **most** dr's don't trust them fully.

I know you're really hoping to have a vbac, but there is pretty much no sure fire way to evict a baby until that baby is ready. Ultrasounds can go 2lbs either way-- that baby could be over 9lbs now or as little as 5lbs. I would ask to be able to continue the pregnancy for a couple more weeks. Good luck.

Baby won't come if baby or body isn't ready

Ultra sounds are usually off by up to 2 lbs. and why 8 1/2 lbs? My daughter was 8lbs 9.9 oz. do you have a history of big babies or something? Wait it out girl. You haven't reached 40 weeks yet. I know it sucks but you can make it girl!

Guesses of the size can be sooooo far off. They suggested my son would be around 6lb.... He was 7lb 8oz! I'm pretty sceptable of their guess of this babies weight!

He wasn't stressing over it or anything. I'm gonna let him strip my membranes Thursday when i go in but he said he wants me to get to 3 by myself first.

If he's not stressing allow your body to do what comes natural. Why push something when you're not even "full term" yet?

Um, 38 weeks is too early to "evict" your baby. Let lo come when ready. I hate these posts.

Weight estimated by ultrasound is not completely accurate. They told me my daughter was over 7lbs at 36 weeks and she was born at almost 40 weeks and was 6lbs. There is no way to tell how big baby really is until he is here.

You can't make yourself go into labor if your body isn't ready.

I truly would love to make it to 40. My 1st was a 37 weeker and my 2nd 36. My daughter was 7lbs 11 oz. My son was 3lbs 1oz but he had gastrochisis ( his intestines were on the outside of his body) knowing the ultrasounds can be off makes me feel some what better.

You would love to make it to 40 weeks but you wan this baby out now? Ummmm there's something wrong with your thinking.

I was told at 34w my daughter was almost 8 lbs. at 42w 3d when I had her, she was 8lbs 9.9oz. They just gave my best friend a csection and she was dumb enough to fall for it because she was told her baby was almost 10 lbs at 36 weeks and the baby was born at 36w 5d at 5lbs 4oz. It's complete bullshit

Maybe you didn't read the full post. I was worried about having to have another c section. If he can stay in until 40 weeks and I'm able to have him vaginally then I'm all for it. Now that everyone has told me how off the ultrasounds can be and i have done some research on it I'm not as concerned.

Poor baby. Did the baby have problems with its lungs or eating?
