My newborn is 11days old and today after his pediatric appointment his umbilical cord fell off but not completely off. There's a little bit of blood around his bellybutton and a thread of skin? It doesn't look like it's bothering him but, what do I do now?

I may get shit for this, but when my son's umbilical cord was barely hanging on I gave it a small pull. Barely any force at all and it came off. But his was at like 3 and a half weeks old if that matters at all.

Keep it dry as possible and leave it alone, it will fall off in a few hours.

DD's had some left over after it fell off and her Dr. put something on it to help dry it up and it fell off on it's own.

This along with the usual cleaning. Should fall off in no time! Just make sure not to irritate it. :)

Pedi pulled it off for my DS when he saw it hanging. He kinda just peeled it off.
