So my kids birthdays are next week their party is as well and I chose to do the bubble guppy theme being that my youngest (turning 2) lives them and last year when he turned 1 we combined the party and did jake and the never land pirates for my oldest (now turning 5)
Well I have had a few of my friends with kids my kids ages say that the party is for the baby and that bubble guppies is to babyish for my 5 year old he wanted Nima turtles or Legos but the baby is so into bubble guppies I wanted him to have his year!
Am I wrong for making the theme that when the party is also for my 5 year old!?!?!?
Also what is the oldest age for bubble guppies I thought about 5-6 but idk I feel bad now like I chose the wrong theme ;(
Could you maybe do both? I mean I think it would be fair to have them switch off every year, but kids don't really think like that ya know?

Well I planned on switching off till my youngest is like 5 then they will probably like the same stuff but the party is next Saturday we have a candy bar that is themed for the party it's a pool party the music is themed for bubble guppies and the invites we're all sent out as that my oldest said at first he didn't want it but I explained that trey (the baby) didn't want jake but we did it cause sit was his turn and now it was treys turn and now he is ok with the idea but my friend has me second guessing if I did the right thing :(
Why dont you do, just do a normal birthday party with themed cakes..

Because we always go over the top for them it's the only special thing they get once a year beside there 1 trip a year. :( I want them to always have over and above what I had growing up and so do my parents so every year we do something awesome for them
My oldest 1st birthday we had 3 bounce houses his 2nd we had 2 and buzz and woody came his 3rd was 3 days after I had the baby so we did a small little something but we took him to Disney a little before the baby came his 4th birthday hpthe baby's 1st we did it at an indoor gym where they go to bounce around for 4 hours and go on a treasure hunt its just a time I splerg on them and go ove the top this year we are only doing Lego land for 2 days and my parents just bought a new house so I wAnted to go a little more then usual but they wanted to go over board as e first party in the new house.
IMO birthdays come every year and they should pick what they each want. Even if it's a little not coordinated. I mean, if you had 3 kids would you make them all rotate? Or would the third one always get what they wanted, KWIM?
My sister has kids with birthdays one day apart. So she did different fun themes.
Princesses- they each got their own princess cake she made and different colors and style.
Me year she did a hamburger cake- cake with frosting to make it look like a hamburger and cake cut into strips like French fries. Then she made the other daughter a hotdog and French fry cake.
Carebears they each had a care bear cake made with the same mold, but different colors and stomach decal thing.
My kids will share a birthday too. But my LO will be 2 and he's getting what his older brother gets this year. Next year when they will be 3 and 5 it might be randomly put together haha.

Lol yeah my oldest always says this is trey and this is me like last year he said he was jake and trey was cubby lol this year he says he's gil(I think that's the one with the blue hair) and trey is the black one lol I'm like ok dede but trey just runs around singing the song
That's kinda what I was going for but I was just iffy on the bubble guppies only theme he is accepting but idk if I should have split the party cause I honestly almost did a bubble guppy Lego birthday lol my oldest is obsessed with Legos lol

That would've been cool.
I think it's fair because you did the theme for your older son last year
I'd never do something that upset one kid (you said you had to convince him) or that was significantly below age-range (bubble guppies is!) and you said YOU chose. Your 2 year old is big enough you could have come up with some ideas for him that the older kid would be okay with and let him choose from those.
I have a 4yo son and a 1mo daughter. They are close and will share a party for a couple of years at least. They will each get to pick. My son is already requesting dinosaurs and, if so, he's just gonna have to accept that his dinosaurs are friends with some ladybugs or some such.
Years 1-2 ill coordinate around his tastes as she won't care--- after that he'll have to compromise with her and they'll find something that I can coordinate together that they BOTH like. (He wants Legos, she wants princesses? We'll have a Lego fairy tale! I could create a Lego version of Tink or Cinderella ;) I'm crafty!)
In fact, Lego versions of Bubble Guppies would be fun :)
