a brown paper bag is for hyperventilation ... its going to do jack shit for someone having an asthma attack which is caused by the bronchioles spasming. Without anyone else putting their hand up with some salbutomal or the ambulance arriving sooner there was nothing that could have been done.

oh yes and have her die in your car on the way to the hospital. People are stupid.

Is could have given her air. Or even talking to her to calm her down get her to slowly breath. I know it's a long shot but a least they would have tried instead if " oh I'm off duty she has no inhaler lets just call 911" there's nothing wrong with trying

People are trying their best to blame it on someone! I know death is hard for a lot of people & the story is sad but asthma isn't something that can really be helped without an inhaler. The EMT worker did what she was supposed to IMO

The EMT worker wasn't her mother so she shouldn't have to tell her to calm down. That rarely works anyways. A bag wouldn't have helped at all because the attack was severe enough to kill the woman. Forcing air into the woman probably would have caused her to panic further

I understand that nothing would of truly helped her but her inhaler that's not my point. My point is that besides calling 911 no one TRIED to help her.

She was having a seizure and had asthma is what it looks like. Jackson called 911 but since she never went and looked at Eutisha she didn't know it was a critical call and 911 had to be called again. I didn't know CPR required any sort of "equipment".

Do you even know what a paper bag actually does? It makes you rebreathe carbon dioxide to LOWER you oxygen levels during hyperventilation. It would have done more harm than good.

A lot of these news stories are really conflicting :?. I just don't think it's right to not even check on the person if you have the training to potentially save someone's life. CPR doesn't require equipment. I'm sure if one of their family members needed it they would want someone who was trained to give CPR to help. The poor girl had a 3 year old son. :( I don't understand someone who goes into the medical field and is that cold, like a bagel is more important than potentially saving someone's life.

you don't think it's better to refrain from acting than to do something that would worsen her condition?

Paper bags don't create air :? You do know why they give people who are hyperventilating paper bags don't you? You do know the difference between asthma and hyperventilation right?

Also I'm sure they weren't the only two people in the damn restaurant ... Basic first aid states that 1 person calls emergency services whilst another person establishes an airway. How do you know there weren't other qualified people there helping?

And yes I'm both a volunteer paramedic, former nurse, and training ICU paramedic so I kind of know what I'm talking about.
