my LO just turned 6 months less than a month ago.
she can't sit up on her own and she isn't even crawling. she just rolls everywhere.
i know all babies are different but all my friends with babies around her age (and even younger) have started sitting up on their own and crawling already and it makes me feel like i'm doing something wrong.
can babies skip milestones like crawling?
DS was barely sitting on his own when he reached 6 months but out of nowhere he got strength and learned to sit and crawl by 7 months and walking by 10. My niece started sitting up by like 8 months, crawling 10, and walking 13 months...I'm not 100% of the months but it's pretty close.
All kids are really different and yours is just 6 months, don't stress over it. Also, I have heard of some babies skipping crawling.
My SO went straight from sitting up to "running" according to his family lol. He never crawled.
My mother in law says my husband never learned how to crawl and started walking at 8 months. His older sister started walking at almost 2 so it was a shock to her.
Crawling isn't a milestone...so yeppers. I have a sister who walked at 8 months & never crawled. Last I read too I thought 7 months was about average for really setting up unassisted.
Yep they can, also babies develop differently so just because your baby isn't sitting or crawling yet doesn't mean she won't!
Yes they can but normally don't.
My son sat up at 4.5 months, crawled at 6 months, started walking 5 days before he turned 14 months.
My daughter sat up at 6.5 months crawled at 10 months and she's almost 13.5 months and is pretty close to walking.
Yes I skipped crawling and went straight to standing/walking at 10months.
And my son seems to be following in my foot steps. Lol. He shows no interest in crawling but can stand on his own for a time at nearly 9months old and steps forward when holding our hands.
My ds didn't really crawl, he did this sideways sliding movement, one day he just got up and walked. The OT said that this is why he has weak core muscles, he never had to hold his weight while crawling because he never crawled. (don't know how true this is but it would explain a bit).
DS2 is 6 months and will sit up by himself, but wont roll yet.
My nephew never crawled, and started walking at 9 months,
Dr didn't sit until he was 9 months. He rolled at 6. He's now almost 11 months & is barely starting to lift his body into a crawl position. Talk to your pedi of your concerned
DD was 8 months before she could sit up on her own, 10 months before she started crawling, and just days away from turning 15 months before she started walking. I was always stressing, ESP about the walking! LOL
Quoting MAAAMMEEE!!!:" DD was 8 months before she could sit up on her own, 10 months before she started crawling, and just days ... [snip!] ... and just days away from turning 15 months before she started walking. I was always stressing, ESP about the walking! LOL"
Did your lo have to do any kind of physical therapy for it? Dr starts his on the 9th
mt dad walked at 8 months never crawled. my dh walked at 9 months never crawled. we thought dd would never craw. but she did at 8 months and walked at 10 months.
Quoting M walls:" Did your lo have to do any kind of physical therapy for it? Dr starts his on the 9th"
No, not at all. Was never even suggested. Mentally she was exactly where she should be, so the doc wasn't concerned. Just a late bloomer!
