Quoting Iyahna :^P:" It does not matter if black people/rapper says it.It does not give her the right to use it.I feel kind ... [snip!] ... a report this morning that home depot and walmart dropped her along with other sponsors. It is getting a little out of hand."

So how come when rapper says it they make millions of dollars and when Paula Deen says it her entire empire she's been building since '89 falls apart??

If no one's going to throw a national fit about other celebrities using the word then I think no one has a right to attack her. Obviously somewhere along the line using the word n****r has become acceptable. People want equality? They want gay marriage? Women's rights? Black rights? This is no different. It can't be acceptable for only black people to say it and unacceptable for white people to say it.

I wished i had that mindset then.It also did not help that my parents did not believe me and told me to suck it up because my dad grew up in tge ghetto and did not have a chance at a good school and a nice house like my brothers and i.

I have never heard a rap song with the rapper saying n****r.Please give me an example. As someone stated "n***a" and n****r has different context. One is more like buddy, friend ect..The other has a bit of history towards it.

If I got all up in arms every time I heard someone say "k**e" here in Tx, I'd spend my whole life angry.

Like the word b***h for example. Some of my friends play around and calls me a b***h.Like "Hey b***h what you doing?" "You sexy b***h" I wont be offended but if she was like "Hey you f**king b***h i am going yo beat your ass" I would take offense.Either way n****r/n***a are both dumb IMO.

what if it was discovered that Paula Deen ACTUALLY said "n***a" though?? do you think she'd still be getting all of this or do you think everyone would say "ohhhh my bad. you're cool then."

If she said n***a i dont think she would have such backslash.I do think everything is going overboard.I still like her.I even got a pair of paula deen glasses from walmart and her gumbo pot.She does have yummy recipes.

What about rap songs that use the words cracker, honkey, whitey, or derogatory words against other races?

They are the same word, I don't care what bullshit excuse someone makes to say otherwise... n***a is like the slang version of n****r, it's derived from it. It's like saying wanna instead of want to, let me guess those have different contexts?

Same deal... rap songs say that shit all the time and make millions of dollars from it. Like no she should not have said it, she should have known it wouldn't go well for her being in the spotlight and all. But I think there's a double standard and this situation is out of control.
