I go next Tuesday for an ultrasound and Ill be 13 weeks. Does anyone know if Ill be able to find out the gender of the baby, or is that still too soon? Also the baby's heartbeat has been 172 each time so far, and I have had people tell me that it means that the baby will be a girl because of the high heart rate. Is there any truth to that or just a myth?
they told me i was having i girl at 12 weeks and confirmed at 18 and 23 weeks.
13 weeks is still too early. Wait a a couple more weeks.
As for the HB, I'm having a girl and her HB has always been in the mid 150's. Definitely a myth.
My friend found out at 12 weeks that she was having a boy.
You can, but parts are just beginning to form so I wouldn't trust it. Also, DS's HB were that high for a while...most definitely not a girl.
I was 14w5d. I really think 13 weeks is too early.
The heart rate thing....not always a good indicator for gender. My daughters had lower heart rates and my sons had higher ones, so it was opposite in my case.
As for the ultrasound, it's early but possible. I was a little over 13 weeks with this one and we were able to find out. A lot depends on whether or not the baby is cooperating. Some babies are "exhibitionists" and some are more "reserved" lol.
Let the technician know that you want to find out so they can really try to focus on it for you.
And let us know too :)
Usually, the earliest they will try to look is 16 weeks, but typically closer to 20.
Quoting anm830:" I go next Tuesday for an ultrasound and Ill be 13 weeks. Does anyone know if Ill be able to find out ... [snip!] ... tell me that it means that the baby will be a girl because of the high heart rate. Is there any truth to that or just a myth?"
I am having a girl and so far her heart beat 153.. it is alil to soon to tell what u are having.. but don't get upset..
I found out at 16 weeks im having a girl and her heart rate was in the 170s evry time
The genitals start to differentiate at 12 weeks, so at 13 weeks, there is a lot of room for error. I wouldn't trust it until 18-20 weeks, personally. As far as the heartbeat, it means nothing. At that point in pregnancy, it is going to be fast. It slows down as the baby grows. With my first, her heart rate was always in the 160's-170's. With this baby, the heart rate is always in the 140's-150's. Both girls.
Potty shots aren't reliable until the end of the 14th week/15th week..
at 13 weeks you would have to get a nub shot and have an experienced tech to determine the angle
With all mine I found out about 14-18 weeks. I went in at about 11 weeks with this one and there was no telling she was still too small, but you can always ask maybe they can see depending how good they are. Good luck
13 weeks is to early...for a better look I say 16 + weeks.
