I was in a very similar situation about 10 years ago. They saw a sac, but nothing else. And there was no heartbeat. I was sent for blood draws to check hcg levels every 2 days. My levels were DROPPING however.

If your levels are rising, I can completely understand why you wouldn't be ready to have a D&C done. Have them monitor your levels OFTEN to make sure they're still rising. I hope everything is ok. Please let us know ok? And we're here if you need/want to talk.

I had the first ultrasound on June 20th and the second one June 24th. On june 18th my levels were 8,000 and on the 20th they were 14,000. Thank you.

It could just be that you aren't as far along as thought, meaning it'd be too early to see a baby in the sac just yet. If the sac is an odd shape, it's not too far of a stretch to say it could be abnormally large as well, making the docs think you are further along. I'm no pro, though. All I know, is I would wait. I think your instincts are definitely telling you to do the right thing.

Have they tested them since then?

I would wait... idk what a misshapen sac means, but I'm almost sure I've heard that at 5 weeks, it's normal to not be able to see the baby because it's too early to see it. I mean... they're the doctors though, maybe I'm wrong, but I would be too skeptical to have it done until they confirmed a miscarriage 100%.

When I was only 5 weeks pregnant, I only saw a sac on my u/s too. It's still really early. At 8 weeks, there was finally a little baby in there. I'd wait it out and get a new doctor.

I'd wait if i were you. It hasn't been a long time so i dont' think there is too big of a concern for infection. I had a friend who at her 6wk us was told it wasn't a viable pregnancy, followed up for a repeat in 2 weeks and all looked great. Strange things happen, wishing you the best of luck!

Okay, a quick search led me to this thread. You can read through the whole thing, but what stood out to me (an eerily similar situation to yours) is the third post on this page.

I would wait, honestly. And go somewhere else for a 3rd opinion since you've been to the ER and your OB.. It sounds off that your levels are rising when they're supposed to be dropping.. It could be a simple mistake on the doctor's part. I wish you the best of luck!
