We're more an art/diy family and not really toy people (we're anti-big/clunky plastic toys & pro-wood ones) so I need toy advice

ive actually found that kmart has better prices on toys than walmart does. that where i normally go or walmart. i barely go to toys r us
I love anything Melissa and Doug and you can usually find them at TRU.
For selection, I prefer toys r us. For price, I prefer target.

Have you checked out Lakeshore learning toys? They have a lot of learning and arts toys and cost a little more but are great toys.
I use amazon, Etsy or Target/toys r us.
I'm anti noisy toys or anything that doesn't allow extreme creative freedom.
