Soooo I had GD with my first and they said I didn't with my second but I had my doubts about that. Has that ever happened with anyone else, or us that common? I did the special diet for GD and only gained 30 pounds. Then gained 65 with my second! But they said I didn't have it then... Idk. So I'm just wondering if I'll have it this time or not, so we'll see.

Has anyone ever had GD with one pregnancy and not another?
TIA!!

I'd follow the diet anyway, even if they say you don't have it. It much healthier, especially if the alternative is 65lb weight gain

I had GD with baby #5 and DID NOT have it with baby #6. It just varies pregnancy to pregnancy...I did follow the diet with my 6th, but not as closely as with my 5th

Yea that sounds like a good idea. It's been over 5 years now so I'm a little rusty on how it goes. I'll have to Google it lol

I think it depends on how you are not pregnant. Like I'm always what they call pre-diabetic, I will always test boderline even though I have a very diabetic friendly diet and I exercise 5 days a week and I'm reasonable fit, in fact my only risk factor is that my dad is type 2 diabetic. I was just over the borderline with my first and only gained 29 lbs because I was very careful from even before taking the test. Again I was very careful with my second baby and registered as just barely under the borderline, so we declined the 3 hour but still treated me as borderline diabetic and I only gained 29 lbs again. With my 3rd I did not eat properly (it's like my will power went straight out the window) and I gained 43 lbs and it was a real difficult thing to get that off too. I also ended up with polyhydrominos from the uncontrolled GD. This time around I'm finding that my sugars are always registering well at home (I haven't taken the test yet and won't for another 3 weeks) but if I have a week where I don't watch what I eat really carefully the I gain a crap load of weight that week, last week I gained 5 lbs

That makes a lot of sense! With my first I was overweight to begin with then list a lot of weight before I got pregnant again but didn't follow a healthy duet pregnant and didn't have it. So I guess I better start counting carbs again!

I had Gestational Diabetes with my first (found out at 28 weeks; followed the diet to a T and only gained 17 pounds), did not have it with my second (although my midwife recommended I follow the diet anyway; I gained 23 the second time). I am currently pregnant with my third (due March 10th) and have already tested positive for it this time (they screened me early, due to my history). It's hard sometimes to have to "count carbs" when most people around you don't understand....BUT in the end, I figure I'll do whatever I need to in order for me and this little one to be healthy.
