Disability for what? Normal pregnancy?

I had 6 weeks paid maternity leave through my work.

for what?

FMLA just guarantees your job when you get back IF you have been there a year and IF they have the required number of employees. IT does not pay you. If you have vacation or sick time you use that. Some companies have paid leave... but it's not part of the FMLA.

disability... unless you have private pay short term disability- pregnancy does not count as a disability. It is "self inflicted" and therefore not a medical illness that is covered.

you need to talk to your HR dpt to know your options

I got disability when I was pregnant in 08' My OB was the one who told me to apply for it. If your work doesn't have paid maternity leave, you qualify for disability. But, idk if they still do it like that. Especially with all the cut-backs California has been having. You can call and ask though.

I get short term disability for 8 weeks after my c-section. It had to be active at least 6 months (i think) before getting pregnant. I also receive FML. I don't think there is disability that can be applied for after the fact....but I don't know about California.

I have been on disability since 20 weeks pregnant... it's up on July 3rd (c section) then as soon as that is up I'm switching to paid family leave for an additional 6 weeks.. so basically I've been out of work getting paid for a total of 26 weeks when it's done and Sao but I had health issues that prevented me from working... if you have questions I could help since I did this all through ca.
