Not saying they are bad parents but when ur kids is dressed in rags and u have your ounce of weed in your drawer thats a problem. And I worked in a peds clinic and I know a great amount of parents who have lost, their kids for having a positive drug test. And yes some peoples priorities are messed up but thats ok for america to pay to take care of these kids and supply food and contInue to let the parents misuse the system ya no. have a great day. No need for debate!

Lol. No argument here. I personally believe when you have a kid you need to leave the drugs behind. No kid wants to see or should have to see their parent high!

Not to mention all the pill poppers and alcoholics.

Well if someone does drugs they certainly aren't GOOD parents.

My parents abused drugs and received gov help, but of course they sold it or used it for drugs. We were put into foster care and every foster kid I met had horrible parents who did drugs, abusive etc. My personal and very real experience shows drugs=bad parents. Their first thought is the drug, not the kid. They will always put the drug first even if it means the kid suffers

I agree. My dad did drugs until I was 9 and he got busted and had to go to rehab. He has stayed sober all these years since. He was careful to never do drugs in front of us, but I can remember somehow knowing he was high and that it wasn't something I was supposed to talk about with my friends at school. I always felt "bad" in some way because of it and worried someone would smell something on my clothes and know what was going on.
I don't think kids should have to deal with that...
"Responsible" drug use is just a lie people use to make themselves feel better.

I get frustrated with the way the world is going today too. It seems like people, even parents, don't seem to think the "real world" is good enough and they need drugs to make it better. I'm a non-drug user and non drinker and I love life and I feel no need to use drugs to alter my mind in any way. I feel sorry for the kids of drug users. I get called too "vanilla," but I just want my son and unborn child to have the best childhood and life possible. If I can spare them the memories I have of my childhood, I definitely will.

some people don't understand the difference between people who ''use'' drugs (recreational/ prescription) and those who ''abuse'' them :( I have a friend that started ''using'' pot for anxiety instead of the script the dr prescribed. She is fully functional & takes wonderful care of her kids while ''using'' pot. On the Xanax she was a zombie that couldn't wipe her own ass much less change her kids diaper.

I dont get why if someone has money to buy someone elses food stamps that they cant just use that money to buy food themselves... Makes no sense

Excuse me, yes I know the difference and I disagree with BOTH types. Did I say I was abused? No. I was never abused or mistreated in any way by my father. I never SAW him smoke weed. But I still KNEW he was doing something he shouldn't and I worried about it all the time, especially about kids smelling it on my clothes at school. I also KNEW it was something I wasn't supposed to talk about.

Kids shouldn't have to live like that with that crap hanging over their shoulders. I want my kids to be able to go to school and be able to talk about ANYTHING that goes on in our household, not carry around a secret that they shouldn't have to.

I have depression and anxiety due to having PCOS and although I don't take medication, if I was taking medication and couldn't care for my children, I would go back to my doctor and ask for a smaller dosage or a different type of medication. Turning to weed isn't an answer - its a problem.

They usually think they are "helping" the person with foodstamps because they are giving them cash. Also, buying food on foodstamps is cheaper because there's no tax. Paying ten or fifteen dollars less than they normally would sounds good to most people.
