Premature Labor? MrsRoar Due August 18; 1 child; Kirkland Lake, Ontario 6 posts3rd Jul
I was sent out of town to be monitored 2 days ago as I was experiencing regular contractions. They lasted nearly 15 hours and didn't go away. I was dilated 1cm or something like that and they watched to make sure my contractions didn't get stronger, which they really did not. They came between 3-5 minutes apart as the day progressed but did not get stronger, just happened to last the entire day! Well today I am losing pieces of my mucus plug. I'm wondering if this has anything to do with labor? I read that losing it is a sign of labor but I also read some women lose theirs weeks before delivery. I'm only 33 weeks so I'm worried as I don't want to go in early. But I'm wondering if the fact I've been having contractions everyday, and losing my mucus plug means I will go into actual labor soon? I'm scared I won't know the difference between BH and actual Labor contractions because last time I had to have my water broken and this time around I honestly believed I was in labor. Help ease a neurotic high risk pregnant woman please! :) :?:o

No, losing pieces of your plug doesn't necessarily mean labor is near, but if you've already had a labor scare, I'd pay close attention to those contractions. Did they give you anything to stop them? Any restrictions at all?

Nope nothing at all! They monitored me to see if they got stronger and they didn't so they sent me home because they said I wasn't in labor. I've been so confused ever since because I figured that being a bit dilated would be a warning sign but the doctor acted like it was no big deal. He didn't even recommend I do anything. I was expecting bed rest at least but nope.
