I am 35 weeks and 4 days. went to the dr on Tuesday the 2nd and had my ultrasound to check my fluid levels and had my cervix checked. im already dialated 2 1/2 cm. was told that ive been having contractions but didn't feel them. got sent straight to the hospital after my visit to be monitored. the dr told me that we will do another ultrasound at 37 weeks to check the level again and if it hasn't went down that I will be induced at 37 weeks. the normal measurement for fluid is 25cm and mine is 33cm.

ive been reading a few websites and they say that any kind of birth defect could be causing the high levels. I am on strict bedrest and on meds to stop the contractions. I am stressing out because I don't want anything to happen to my baby.

does anyone else have/had this problem?

I have and it was just due to the baby laying a certain way and pushing more of the fluid into the place they were measuring. Try not to freak out just yet! :D

Are you by any chance gestational diabetic? They keep telling me that that can make your fluid levels high, but so far I've had no issue with it.

I had high amniotic fluid with my first and they had no idea until the day I delivered her
They monitored it ahead of time with my second, it was high again but not as high.

I had 0 issues as well.

well I had my baby boy on the 15th of july! he came out perfect, but when they broke my water it was like a waterfall. I ended up being induced at 37 weeks and 1 day. I only pushed for 15 minutes and was in labor for 7 hours. I couldn't be happier with the way things turned out with my labor!

I had it with DD and I was told that if I went into labour naturally I would have to go into hospital ASAP before my waters bake as it could cause the umbilical cord to prolapse through the cervix and if you lose the water too quickly it can send you into a bit of shock. High fluid levels can be caused by a stomach problem with your LO which means they are not passing fluid well and they will put a tube down LO's throat into their tummy to check everything is ok. My LO had the tube test and she was fine and my waters were broken and it was all ok. Those a some of the facts you are looking for but don't let them scare you as the chances are you and LO will be just fine :)
